Description
The CUVolunteer website is a partnership between the United Way of Champaign County, the University of Illinois Office of Public Engagement, Office for Math, Science, and Technology Education, and Office of Volunteer Programs, and a few members of the general public interested in making volunteering easier in our local community.
What you see today came about because a few individuals who moved to the area and wanted to volunteer found it difficult to get involved -- and it should be easy! So they decided to do something about it. They enlisted the support of the United Way in revamping the site, and a Computer Science senior design team from the University of Illinois College of Engineering took the site on as their project. The students contributed a year of hard work and the result is the CUVolunteer site.
CUVolunteer.org is open to all members of the local community. The hope is that it will enable students from the University of Illinois and individuals of all ages and interests to more actively participate in and contribute to the Champaign-Urbana community.
