The tools used by writers to commit their thoughts and ideas into a tangible form have evolved over the course of centuries. From writing on parchment with quills, to paper and pens, and all the way to the processors of the digital world, writing is an integral part of cultural communication. On display in the Rare Book & Manuscript Library are the highlights of this progression, featuring the typewriters of Hugh Hefner and Roger Ebert.
