Parents often wonder if they are making the right choice when allowing their child to stay home alone. While nothing will ease the strain this question puts on parents, University of Illinois Extension is there to help. Saturday, March 9, 2019, Extension will host “Staying Safe While Home Alone.”
Youth ages 8-12 from Henderson, Knox, McDonough, and Warren counties are encouraged to attend this workshop to engage in conversations concerning personal safety, first aid, coping with loneliness, etc.
Extension Youth Development Educator, Shelby Carlson, says of the program, “I am really excited to offer this program to youth in the community. Not only will children get the chance to learn better safety practices, but they will take home materials to spark conversations about safety in their home.”
