According to a 2017 CDC report, more than 100 million Americans have diabetes or prediabetes. Both of these conditions can be improved with simple changes, however, individuals who are diagnosed with diabetes quickly realize that managing their disease isn’t as simple as eating less sugar, but requires changes in lifestyles, knowledge and skills to successfully manage the disease and live a long and healthy life.
To help you successfully manage your diabetes, support a loved one with diabetes or lower your risk of diabetes, University of Illinois Extension’s Nutrition and Wellness Educator and Registered Dietitian Caitlin Mellendorf, is hosting I on Diabetes this August. During this two-part series, Mellendorf will discuss how to make healthful meals at home, use foods to help manage blood glucose levels and make healthier choices while dining out.
University of Illinois Extension provides equal opportunities in programs and employment. If you need reasonable accommodation to participate in this program, please call the Piatt County Extension Office.
Cost: $10.00. A diabetes-friendly meal will be served at each class. This small fee will be charged to cover the cost of materials for both sessions.
Registration: Advance registration is required by using our online registration form or by calling Piatt County Extension Office by August 13 (contact information below). Can’t make it in August? I on Diabetes will also be offered at the DeWitt County Extension office September 13 and 20. Call the Extension office at DeWitt County Extension office for details.
