Information

If you or someone you know is affected by diabetes, selecting and preparing foods that are low in sugar, fat and sodium can be a real challenge. To help meet this challenge the University of Illinois Extension will offer a program called I on Diabetes.

I on Diabetes is a series of two, 2 1/2 hour sessions, designed for anyone interested in preventing or managing diabetes.  In each session participants receive recipes, watch cooking demonstrations, and taste foods to meet their dietary needs. The program provides information on treatment goals and self-monitoring, managing carbohydrates, sodium, cholesterol and fat portions, planning meals, reading food labels, and using artificial sweeteners, low-fat products, and herbs and spices.

The goal of I on Diabetes is to help you improve your diabetes care and overall wellbeing.  The program is meant to compliment the recommendations of your health care provider and to help you and/or your loved one manage diabetes.
