Join other orchestra educator-conductors in jam packed 2.5-day workshop led by Donald Schleicher and Louis Bergonzi of the Illinois Orchestral Conducting Division. As a Conductor, you will experience daily lecture-demonstrations, podium time with a small chamber ensemble, and observation of the high school honors orchestra of Illinois Summer Youth Music (ISYM), led by Donald Schleicher. Those not interested podium time, may register as an Observer and will engage in every session and discussion of the symposium, except for having podium time during the morning and afternoon conducting session experiences.

The day also includes time for private score study and consultation with faculty on repertoire you bring to the workshop. Other repertoire to be studied and the topics examined will be determined based on participants’ interest collected via a pre-workshop survey.
