Meals for a Healthy Heart, February 2 & 9, 2017: 11 am - 1:30 p.m. UI Extension, Milan, IL

Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the number one cause of death in the United States and a leading cause of serious disability. Join us in February during Heart Disease Awareness Month for Meals for a Healthy Heart.

This 2-part series focuses on increasing participant awareness of the risk factors of CHD: hypertension, high blood cholesterol, and other warning signs. The series focuses on heart healthy foods, menu planning, healthy eating away from home, omega 3/fish, dietary fiber, antioxidants, and more.

  • Activity levels and weight management information on keeping your heart in good condition
  • Food demonstrations
  • Taste testing
  • Recipes

Meals for a Healthy Heart is meant to compliment the recommendations of your health care provider and to help you and/or your loved one manage heart disease. The cost is $15 person or $25 per couple (shared handouts).
