The Summer Piano Institute at the University of Illinois offers advanced study for young pianists. Participants will benefit from individual lessons with each SPI faculty member, attendance at daily master classes and access to newly renovated practice rooms all equipped with Steinway grand pianos. Included with the program are performance opportunities and admission to faculty recitals.

Participants must be at least 16 years old, or in their junior year of high school at the time of application. There is no upper age limit. Younger students may be considered on a limited basis.

Application & Costs

Admission will be on a rolling basis.

  • Tuition – $500
  • Tuition includes daily access to grand piano practice rooms, private lessons and participation in master classes and the final gala concerts. Tuition also includes admission to all concerts.
  • Tuition does not include housing nor meals.
  • For full consideration, application and payment must be received by June 15, 2017.
