About the Project
The Women's Empowerment and International Development Interdisciplinary Seminar is a project of Focal Point, a Graduate College initiative designed to stimulate new interdisciplinary research through collaborations among faculty and graduate students from multiple fields.
The overall objective of our project and interdisciplinary team of graduate students, practitioners, and professors is to address (1) conceptual debates of women’s empowerment across disciplines, (2) methodological challenges in measuring empowerment in development research, and (3) real-world policy and practice applications of women’s empowerment in international development programming.
