Founded in a social entrepreneurship class at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, four young women were empowered by the question "What bothers you?" Motivated by their past experiences, MakerGirl was created to inspire young girls to pursue STEM fields through 3D printing sessions.
MakerGirl sessions are for girls aged 7-10 years and are led by university STEM women. All of their sessions inspire girls to be creative and technical through 3D printing and other cutting edge technologies. Girls practice design thinking while designing and printing an object, and they learn about women leaders in STEM and innovative companies.
