The University of Illinois Center for Economic and Financial Education is affiliated with the Council for Economic Education (CEE) and is part of a national network of university centers dedicated to increasing economic and financial literacy nationally and internationally.
Established in 1956, the U of I Center is the oldest continuously active center in the NCEE network and is located in the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics at the University of Illinois. For over 50 years, the Center has been a leading provider of economic and financial programs, services, and research in both the state of Illinois and nationally.
The U of I Center for Economic and Financial Education is comprised of nationally prominent academic scholars, educators, and financial professionals specializing in economic and financial education at the University of Illinois.
The U of I Center for Economic and Financial Education is dedicated to improving economic and financial education. Its mission is three-fold:
- To provide programs and services that enable individuals and families to develop the economic and financial skills needed to become economically and financially secure.
- To conduct academically rigorous research that documents the impact of economic and financial education so as to support and lend credibility to our educational efforts, as well as those of others.
- To bring statewide, national, and global awareness to public policy issues related to economic and financial education through our programs, services, and research.
